Reigning UBO Africa Welterweight champion Sampson Segbedzi delivered a commanding performance to retain his title for the second consecutive time, while also adding two more belts to his collection.
The undefeated Segbedzi, now 9-0 (7 KOs), secured the Ghana National Welterweight Championship and the PST Tanzania Championship after his challenger Isaac Commey was disqualified for a deliberate headbutt in the fifth round of their bout.
The fight, held in front of an electric crowd, highlighted Segbedzi’s technical brilliance and control in the ring. From the opening bell, he relied on sharp jabs, footwork, and a high boxing IQ to keep Commey on the defensive. Despite Commey’s aggressive attempts to land powerful punches, Segbedzi maintained his composure, countering with precision and frustrating his opponent.
Commey’s frustration culminated in the fifth round when he delivered an intentional headbutt, forcing the referee to disqualify him. The decision handed Segbedzi a victory by disqualification and confirmed his dominance in the welterweight division.
With this win, Segbedzi has cemented his position as a rising star in African boxing. His ability to stay calm under pressure and outsmart his opponents has made him a formidable force and one to watch in the sport.
Segbedzi’s victory not only reinforced his reign as UBO Africa Welterweight champion but also marked a new chapter with three prestigious titles now in his possession.
