The third edition of the GroomDatGirl’s flagship program, “Follow Who Know Road,” is scheduled for November 27th at the Ho Tennis Court, focusing on empowering girls in sports.
This year’s event is a partnership with Node Eight Women, a nonprofit and digital innovation hub dedicated to empowering women and girls in various communities.
The GroomDatGirl initiative aims to inspire and empower young girls in the Volta Region and beyond. It seeks to provide a platform for girls to realize their full potential and explore the opportunities that lie ahead of them, helping them become the best versions of themselves.
This year’s emphasis on sports is intended to encourage girls to participate in athletic activities and consider sports as a viable career path.
According to the event organizers, prominent speakers from the sports community will be present to share their experiences and inspire girls in sports.
The event will also feature interactive sports sessions and activities, including a panel discussion with celebrated athletes, along with opportunities for girls to network, connect, and develop their skills with like-minded individuals.
Young female athletes from various sports disciplines are expected to attend the event, which promises to be an inspiring and empowering experience for all participants.
The event will be honored by the presence of Elizabeth Opoku, captain of the Ghana Female Hockey Team and three-time SWAG Award winner.
Mamaga Tina Fugah, a dedicated educator, sports personality, and community leader, will deliver the keynote address on the theme “Empowering Girls in Sports.” Other speakers include Madam Vivian Mawufemor Dougblor, a sports management professional with multiple degrees and extensive experience in sports administration, teaching, and event organization.
She is also the Regional Director of the National Sports Authority in CapeCoast.
Football administrator and former Volta Regional Football Association (RFA) Chairman, Mr. Francis Dogbatse, will share his wealth of experience in the field.
Millicent, a health advocate and recent university graduate with a background in sports and exercise medicine, will also contribute to the discussions.
With the support of Node Eight Women and the presence of our sports icons, this year’s event promises to be an inspiring and empowering experience for all participants.
