The Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners Association of Ghana has announced the closure of all drinking spots, pubs, and bars across the country on election day, December 7, 2024.
In a statement signed by the association’s president, Moses Onyah, the directive mandates that all such establishments remain closed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on election day. The move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and transparent voting process.
The association explained that this measure is intended to prevent voters from consuming alcohol before heading to the polls, reducing the likelihood of misconduct and minimising the number of rejected ballots due to errors caused by intoxication.
