The Blue Skies Foundation has commenced construction of a modern three-unit classroom block and a fully equipped ICT centre for the Panpanso Krokesse Junior High School in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region. This initiative follows a passionate appeal by residents and pupils of the Panpanso Krokesse M/A Basic School for additional classrooms to enhance effective teaching and learning. The new facility is intended to complement the existing six classrooms, which currently accommodate all pupils from Kindergarten to Junior High School (JHS).
In 2007, the Blue Skies Company recognized the difficulty children in Panpanso Krokesse faced, commuting over five kilometers to access education in neighboring communities. To address this, the company built a three-unit classroom block to serve Kindergarten and lower Primary students. Subsequently, the government constructed another three-unit classroom block to complete the Primary school.
As enrolment numbers grew, students in JHS had to walk long distances to access education. This led the community and school authorities to partition existing classrooms to accommodate JHS students locally. Recognizing the challenge, the school appealed to the Blue Skies Foundation, which responded by initiating the construction of a new ultra-modern facility.
The new development will include three classrooms, an ICT center, a staff common room, a Head Teacher’s office, a library, and storage facilities. The old school blocks will also be refurbished and tiled to support ICT education in the community.
Speaking to GBC News, Alistair Djimatey, the Head of Foundation and Corporate Affairs at Blue Skies Products Ghana Limited, emphasized the importance of providing access to quality education for children regardless of location. He expressed concern over the rapid depletion of farmlands due to estate development, which he noted is negatively impacting agriculture and agro-processing in the country. Mr. Djimatey stressed that industrializing agriculture is key to addressing Ghana’s unemployment challenges.
The Head Teacher of Panpanso Krokesse M/A Basic School, Daniel Kwao Sackitey, expressed gratitude to the Blue Skies Foundation for alleviating their challenges. He noted that the school’s enrollment currently stands at 151 pupils, with the first batch of JHS students achieving a 100% pass rate in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The project represents a significant step in improving access to modern and quality education for the Panpanso Krokesse community, laying a strong foundation for future academic and technological growth.
