The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, has assured the public that there will be no shortage of election materials or equipment during the December 7 elections.

Speaking at her final media briefing before election day, she stated that all necessary materials and equipment have been distributed across the regions in sufficient quantities.

Mrs. Mensa disclosed that 18,774,159 registered voters, accounting for 55% of the population, are expected to participate in the elections. She also highlighted the success of the special voting exercise, which recorded a high voter turnout, with the lowest being 83%.

Regarding media coverage, the EC has issued nearly 10,000 accreditation passes to journalists, enabling them to access polling stations and collation centers at the constituency and regional levels. Mrs. Mensa urged journalists to report accurately and truthfully, using their platforms to provide citizens with reliable information.

The commission has also accredited over 20,000 local and international observers for the elections. To assist them, the EC has provided maps to help locate polling centers.

“Rise to the task and cover elections accurately and truthfully,” Mrs. Mensa encouraged journalists.
