The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has warned its supporters against taking or destroying government property allegedly misused by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This caution comes after reports of individuals believed to be linked to the NDC unlawfully taking over and damaging state assets.
In a statement on December 11, Mustapha Gbande, the NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, called for calm and lawful behavior. He advised supporters to report any suspected theft or misuse of government assets to the police for proper investigation.
The message was directed mainly at the party’s youth organisers and regional leaders. Gbande emphasised respecting due process during the transition period, urging supporters not to harass government officials still performing their duties.
He stated, “If NPP members are found with government assets, report them to the police for proper action. Officials in possession of such assets should not be disturbed until the transition is complete.”
Gbande also warned against invading government offices or taking items like furniture, supplies, or relief materials without proper procedures. He said such actions amount to theft.
Additionally, Gbande asked party members to report any post-election recruitments by government agencies to their constituency or regional leaders for further action.
The NDC hopes these measures will ensure a peaceful transition and maintain order during this period.
