The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nabdam Constituency of the Upper East Region has held a victory rally to express heartfelt gratitude to the constituents for overwhelmingly endorsing Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane as their Member of Parliament-elect and President-elect John Mahama in the recent elections.
The NDC celebrated a resounding victory with a vibrant float that wound its way through the constituency, covering key areas like Nyogbare, Sekoti, Nangodi, Kongo, and the Zanlerigu-Damolgo road, ultimately culminating at the bustling Pelungu Market.
Supporters were identified by their colours and danced alongside the newly elected Member of Parliament, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, as they basked in the joy of their hard-won victory.
According to Mr. James Tenga, the constituency’s communications officer, this day was nothing short of euphoric for the NDC and its loyal supporters.
“The victory of John Mahama is something that has never occurred in Ghana. And my MP has been overwhelmingly endorsed. I know very well that with the partnership of his Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Nabdam is going to be a paradise. So this is a day of ecstasy, and we are glad celebrating a victory of 1.6 million vote difference,” Mr. Tenga disclosed.
Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, expressed optimism about his future endeavours, thanks to the overwhelming support he received from his constituents in the recent parliamentary election. With the backing of President-elect John Mahama’s administration, Dr. Nawaane is confident that he will be able to work tirelessly to bring more development to the people of Nabdam.
“Now is the time for you to assist me to use the power that you’ve given to me to develop you. I have survived these eight years because of your support, and I hope you stay behind me in the next four years.” Dr. Nawaane told the crowd.
Some supporters at the victory rally expressed their joy to GBC News for the second coming of John Mahama and the NDC.
At the just-ended polls, the NDC’s John Mahama won eleven thousand three hundred and ninety-three votes as against six thousand five hundred and fifty-nine votes for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In the parliamentary results, the NDC’s candidate, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, won with eleven thousand one hundred and ninety-two votes, while Mr. Charles T. Ndanbon of the NPP garnered six thousand six hundred and eighty votes.
