Majority leader in parliament, Alexender Afenyo-Markin has given a reflection of challenges faced by the 8th parliament, stating that the minority side brought so many difficulties in playing their roles and responsibilities.
Giving his speech in parliament during the dissolution of the 8th parliament, he described the minority side, NDC, as the “tough, stubborn, difficult side”.
“Mr Speaker, the minority were such a tough, stubborn, difficult side. Mr Speaker, you could never have an agreement with them because they were smelling power, and I understand, rightly so,” Afenyo-Markin stated.
Afenyo Markin expressed his frustration with the Minority Party . According to him, they were uncooperative and resistant to reaching agreements.
He further highlighted the significant challenges faced in advancing government business, attributing these problems to the persistent lack of support from the minority party.
“The number of government businesses I would have loved to complete for political expediency and perhaps for purposes of principle, I did not get the support from the respected colleagues,” he added.
Despite the challenges mentioned, he expressed his commitment to holding the new government accountable and ensuring they remain vigilant for effective governance.
