The outgoing Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has described the “Operation Recover All Loots” (ORAL) committee, initiated by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, as unnecessary and lacking constitutional backing.

He condemned the establishment of the committee, stating, “I condemn, in no uncertain terms, the creation of this so-called committee called ‘ORAL’.

Afenyo-Markin further argued that the committee was formed out of personal vendetta, adding, “I hold a humble view that it is a needless committee. It has no constitutional backing and is driven solely by personal vendetta.”

ORAL was a committee set up by President-elect Mahama with the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as its chairperson.

On Wednesday, December 18, Mahama announced the formation of the five-member team to spearhead the National Democratic Congress’s flagship programme, “Operation Recover All Loots.”

The initiative aims to recover looted state resources, enforce accountability, and promote good governance in Ghana. It is a key part of Mahama’s 120-day social contract agenda.

The members of the team are:

  1. Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairperson
  2. Mr. Daniel Domelovo – Former Auditor-General
  3. COP (Rtd) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired Police Commissioner
  4. Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
  5. Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
