Studies have shown that adolescent girls worldwide give birth each year, constituting about 11 percent of all births worldwide.
This has been described as worrying as Ghana is not left out in this ordeal.
It is in view of this that the a Non Governmental Organisation, (NGO), Amazing Grace Child Foundation, AGCF, has embarked on a number of activities to complement efforts at educating young people on Sexual Reproductive Health matters.
Addressing students of Accra High School in Accra, the Country Representative of AGCF, Mrs. Awo Otchere, emphasised that parents must endeavour to create an atmosphere where their wards can freely speak to them on Sexual Reproductive issues.
Sensitisation, she noted is key, as Reproductive Health affords young women especially adolescents the opportunity to have responsible, and safe sex life, while urging them to abstain from pre-marital sex.
Dr. Gloria Nimo stressed the need for effective operation of Counselling sessions to enable students to communicate effectively on Sexual Reproductive issues bothering them.
