The Paramount Chief of Keta, Togbui James Ocloo V, has expressed disappointment with former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to deliver on his promise to construct a port in Keta.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Togbui Ocloo V highlighted the slow progress of the project, which began in 2019 with the appointment of a director. Despite assurances from the government, work on the port has stalled, with office buildings still at the foundation stage after several years.

Togbui Ocloo V called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the completion of the Keta Port project, stressing its importance for job creation and economic growth in the region.

He recalled that former President John Agyekum Kufuor had also promised a mini fishing port in Keta, but that project was never completed either.

“We waited and waited, and that government left power. Nothing was done,” he said, adding that while chiefs do not engage in politics, they have a responsibility to speak up for their people.

The Paramount Chief remains hopeful that the incoming government will address the delays and ensure the project is finally completed for the benefit of the people of Keta.
