A benefactor who wants to remain unidentified has feted the inmates of the Wa Central Prisons in keeping with the spirit of Christmas.

The Head of the English Language Department of GBC Radio Upper West, Seidu Ibrahim Bomanjo, who presented the food package on behalf of the unnamed donor, said the inmates deserved to be treated in a special way, as a way of reaching out to them.

He added that a few months earlier, the same fellow donated some medicines to the Wa Central Prisons for the inmates.

Mr. Bomanjo noted that the food, which was prepared by the kind courtesy of Joy Zone in Wa, though it was a one-off gesture, will go a long way to enhance the nutritional status of the beneficiaries and also make them know that they have not been forgotten.

“I used to present a programme ‘You and the Prisoner’ and through that the person got to know the conditions of the prisoners and decided to do something to improve their lives,” Mr Bomanijo stated. He described the act as “just a widow’s mite to make the prisoners happy during the festive season and commended the management of the Wa Central Prisoners for their cordial relationship and partnership with those who want to support the inmates.

The Officer in charge of Welfare, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP) Musah Alhassan, who received the food on behalf of the prisons authorities, was very thankful for the support from the unidentified donor.

DSP Alhassan entreated the public to always lend a hand of support to the Ghana Prisons Service for it deliver on its mandate.
