President John Dramani Mahama has called on party supporters to prioritize peace and order as the country transitions into a new government. Speaking at a thanksgiving service held at the National Mosque today, Friday January 10, 2024, he urged supporters to avoid illegal actions and set an example of responsible behavior.

“Elections come with challenges, disagreements, and tensions, but these should not divide us. Instead, they should inspire peace and understanding,” President Mahama stated.

Addressing reports of looting and illegal occupation of government offices, he urged supporters to desist from such actions, reminding them of the mistakes made by the previous administration. “Many have said this is the same thing the NPP did when they came in 2017, and that is why Ghanaians voted them out. We must not repeat their mistakes,” he cautioned.

President Mahama reassured supporters that the new government is being formed in an orderly manner. He promised a full cabinet within 14 days and urged anyone with concerns to channel them through the appropriate ministers once they are appointed.

“I plead with you, let us do things in an orderly manner. The government is taking shape, and ministers will soon be in place to address any issues. Let us exercise restraint and maintain the trust Ghanaians have placed in us,” he said.

The Thanksgiving service provided an opportunity for reflection and a call for unity as the nation moves forward.
