Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee member Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer, in a recent interview with Asempa FM, did not hold back in his criticism of the current GFA President, Kurt Okraku.
Palmer described Okraku’s leadership during his first two terms as “abysmal”. His remarks come at a time when the future of Ghanaian football is under scrutiny, especially with rumours swirling about Okraku’s potential bid for a third term.
Palmer specifically pointed to the declining standards in Ghana football as a pressing issue.
He lamented the underwhelming results of the national teams on the international stage, which he believes reflect poorly on the GFA’s management.
“Our national teams are not performing well,” Palmer remarked, emphasising the urgency for change in leadership if the situation is to improve.
The former GFA EXCO member’s comments resonate with a growing sentiment among football stakeholders in Ghana. Many are echoing his concerns, questioning the effectiveness of Okraku’s administration in fostering a competitive environment for the national teams.
Palmer’s outspoken criticism serves as a wake-up call for the GFA and its leadership. The conversation surrounding the state of the game is far from over, and it remains to be seen how the GFA will respond to these mounting pressures.
