The future of Otto Addo, head coach of the Ghana Black Stars, hangs in the balance as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) prepares to convene for a crucial meeting. Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s Communications Director, revealed that the Executive Council will deliberate on Addo’s position following the team’s disappointing performance in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Stars’ recent record has raised eyebrows, with the team finishing at the bottom of Group F after securing only three points from six matches. With three defeats and three draws, the performance has led to mounting pressure on Addo, who has faced increasing calls for his dismissal. The GFA’s decision-making process comes at a time when fans and analysts are questioning the direction of the national team.

During a recent interview, Asante Twum shed light on the discussions that took place during the Executive Council’s lengthy meeting, which followed Addo’s presentation of his technical reports. While various concerns were raised regarding player management and tactics, Twum emphasized that no definitive conclusion was reached at that time. This ambiguity leaves both supporters and stakeholders eager for clarity on the coach’s fate.

Otto Addo’s tenure has been marked by challenges, including a lackluster performance in 2024, where the Black Stars managed only two wins out of ten games. His reappointment in March 2024, which came with a three-year contract and an option for two additional years, was met with optimism. However, the recent failures have cast a shadow over that optimism, prompting the Executive Council to reconsider their options.
