Joseph Boahen Aidoo has officially resigned from his position as Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
His resignation comes in response to the government’s recent directive regarding the cessation of all boards of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), communicated on January 13, 2025.
In his resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Aidoo expressed deep gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, and the people of Ghana for the opportunity to lead COCOBOD over the past eight years. He described his tenure as an “incredible honour” and thanked stakeholders for the trust placed in him.
Although his renewed appointment under the COCOBOD Law, 1984 (PNDCL 81), was scheduled to end in July 2025, Mr. Aidoo stated that stepping down earlier would facilitate a smooth transition and allow stakeholders and business partners to build timely connections with the incoming leadership.
Mr. Aidoo reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Ghana’s cocoa sector and any necessary transition processes.
He highlighted that serving in this role had been both rewarding and enlightening, expressing gratitude for contributing to the development of the nation’s cocoa industry.
