President John Dramani Mahama has appointed two former journalists to serve in his government.

The appointment was contained in a statement signed and issued on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, by Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, formerly of Joy FM, has been named Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations). The statement highlighted his extensive experience in organisational management and public administration, which is expected to bolster the operational efficiency of the President’s office.

Shamima Muslim, previously with Citi FM, has been appointed as Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, taking on a key role in managing the administration’s communications.

A broadcaster, gender advocate, and development communicator, Shamima Muslim brings a wealth of experience to her new role at the Presidency. She is the Founder and Convener of the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA), a non-governmental organisation dedicated to improving the visibility and impact of women in the media.

Muslim’s career spans several achievements, including her role as one of the moderators of Ghana’s 2012 Vice-Presidential Debate and her selection as a pioneer representative of Ghana at President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative in 2010. Her expertise encompasses advocacy, negotiations, leadership, and media communications, making her a strong addition to the President’s communications team.

The appointments reflect a move to incorporate diverse expertise into President Mahama’s team as his government aims to enhance its operational and public engagement strategies.
