Randy Abbey Appointed Acting CEO of Ghana Cocoa Board

President John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has appointed Dr. Ransford Anerthey Abbey as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board.

The appointment, which takes effect from January 21, 2025, was confirmed through an official letter issued by the Office of the President.

The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L 81). Dr. Abbey will serve in an acting capacity pending the constitutionally required advice from the Board of Ghana Cocoa Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

In the appointment letter signed by Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., Secretary to the President, Dr. Abbey was congratulated on his new role and assured of the President’s best wishes as he takes on the leadership of one of Ghana’s most important institutions.
The letter was copied to key government officials, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, the Board Chairman of Ghana Cocoa Board, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission.

Dr. Abbey is a renowned Ghanaian media personality and sports administrator. He currently serves as the host of Metro TV’s morning show Good Morning Ghana, a platform known for its insightful discussions on national issues. In addition to his media career, he is an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association and the president of Kpando Hearts of Lions Football Club, where he has played a key role in the development of Ghanaian football.
