The Electoral Commission has announced that elections to elect Regional Representatives to the Council of State will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in all regional capitals.
The venues for the elections will be determined by the Commission.
In a statement issued by the commission on January 22, 2025, individuals who wish to contest in the election must submit their nomination forms along with two recent bust-sized photographs.
The photographs must have a red background and clearly show the candidate’s full face and ears.
The nomination forms should be submitted to the Regional Director of the Electoral Commission in the candidate’s respective region. Submission will be accepted from Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to Friday, January 31, 2025, during the hours of 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm each day.
To be eligible, each nomination must be:
• Proposed and seconded by two registered voters from the region.
• Supported by at least twenty (20) registered voters from the same region.
• Accompanied by the candidate’s formal consent to participate in the election as a Member of the Council of State.
Candidates must submit completed nomination forms in triplicate, which can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website at www.ec.gov.gh
