The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has received official clearance to run for a position on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This announcement marks an important step in Okraku’s football administration career as he prepares to engage in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 12, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page, Okraku expressed joy at being approved to contest for a seat on the CAF Executive Committee. He revealed that he had successfully passed the necessary integrity and eligibility tests mandated for all candidates. Okraku’s post read, “I am delighted to share that I have been cleared to contest for a place on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after successfully passing the integrity and eligibility test. I am excited with what lies ahead! May God guide us through this journey.”
The CAF Elective Congress is set to gather football leaders and stakeholders from across the continent to elect new members to its Executive Committee. This event is crucial for shaping the future direction of African football, and Okraku’s candidacy highlights his commitment to contributing to this vision.
Notably, Okraku’s bid for a position on the CAF Executive Committee is unopposed. This means he will be automatically elected to the influential body, representing the WAFU Zone B, which encompasses countries from West Africa. This unopposed status underscores the confidence and support he has garnered within the football community in the region.
