Medeama Sporting Club has officially announced the hiring of Ibrahim Tanko as their new head coach, signing him to a two-and-a-half-year contract. The former Ghana international takes over the managerial role following the departure of Augustine Evans Adotey, who will transition back to his original position as the club’s technical director. This strategic move aims to inject new energy into the team as they prepare for their upcoming challenges.

Ibrahim Tanko is well regarded for his tactical acumen and leadership qualities, making him an ideal candidate to guide Medeama towards their competitive aspirations. His extensive coaching background, which includes experience at both the club and international levels, positions him as a strong asset for the club. Fans and supporters are optimistic that his expertise will help elevate the team’s performance in the league.

A former forward for Borussia Dortmund, Tanko’s coaching journey has taken him through various prestigious leagues, including Germany’s Bundesliga and Japan’s J-League. His international experience is further highlighted by his role as an assistant coach for Cameroon’s national team, the Indomitable Lions. Additionally, he has contributed to Ghana’s youth teams, including the Black Meteors and Black Galaxies, showcasing his versatility and commitment to developing football talent.

Prior to his appointment at Medeama, Tanko was involved with the Accra Lions, where he served as both coach and technical advisor. His familiarity with coaching dynamics and player development is expected to have a positive impact on Medeama’s squad. As he steps into this new role, Tanko aims to harness his experience to foster a winning mentality within the team.

Tanko’s debut in the Medeama dugout is set for Sunday, February 3, 2025, when his team faces Legon Cities at the TnA Stadium. This match will serve as a critical test for the new head coach, as he seeks to make an immediate impression and set the tone for his tenure at the club.
