The Appointments Committee Chair, Bernard Ahiafor has publicly apologized to Ghanaians following the chaotic events that transpired during the vetting session on Thursday evening, January 30, 2025.

The meeting, intended to evaluate nominees Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, quickly devolved into chaos as members from both the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed.

Tensions escalated when the Minority proposed postponing the vetting to Friday, January,31, 2025, citing concerns about the proceedings that day. The Majority, however, rejected this proposal, insisting that the vetting should proceed as planned.

This disagreement intensified, leading Minority members to disrupt the session by damaging tables and microphones in an attempt to halt any delays.

Despite the disorder, the Majority maintained their position, asserting that the committee was adhering to its established schedule. This situation necessitated increased security in the conference room as tensions rose.

In their apology, the Appointments Committee recognized the disruption caused during the session and expressed regret over the incident. They committed to implementing measures aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future and ensuring that the vetting process is conducted in an orderly and respectful manner.
