The Minister-designate for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has promised to review and improve the medical drone delivery service if approved for the position.

During his vetting before the Appointments Committee on Friday, January 31, 2025, Mr. Akandoh acknowledged that the use of drones to deliver essential medicines to remote areas is a fantastic idea.

“I have raised concerns about the drone service in Parliament before. If this committee approves me, I will further investigate its operations,” he said.

He also revealed that there were initial assurances that government COVID-19 funds would not be used to pay for the drone services. However, after reviewing some contracts between the government and the service providers, he believes there is a need for a thorough examination of the agreements.

“As leaders, we have a duty to be transparent with the people of Ghana. When I assume office, I will take my time to study the contracts and work closely with the service providers to ensure efficiency,” he assured.

Mr. Akandoh emphasised that while the drone service is valuable, his priority is to ensure that it operates effectively and benefits all Ghanaians.
