The Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has underscored the importance of Ghana’s diplomatic stance on the African continent.

He articulated a vision of Ghana as a nation that embodies the principle of being a “friend to all and an enemy to none,” aiming to foster cooperation and solidarity among African nations.

Okudzeto Ablakwa stressed this when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Friday, January 31, 2025, where he addressed the committee regarding his approach to foreign relations.

He emphasised that the challenges faced in certain regions of the African continent, particularly in Western Sahara, should not deter Ghana from maintaining diplomatic ties.

“We will remain friend for all and enemy for none,” Ablakwa stated, reinforcing the idea that Ghana’s foreign policy should prioritise dialogue and collaboration over isolation and division.

The North Tongu MP expressed concern that severing ties with countries facing difficulties could hinder opportunities for partnership, development, and mutual understanding. By advocating for continued engagement, Okudzeto Ablakwa believes that Ghana can play a crucial role in promoting stability and fostering relationships essential for regional growth.
