Parliament Drama: Ahiafor Defends Clerk, Slams Minority Leader’s Bias Claims”

Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor has come to the defense of the Clerk of the Appointment Committee of Parliament Madam Gifty Jiagge- Gobah, dismissing allegations of bias as levelled against her by the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

According to the Minority Leader, the clerk, Madam Gifty Jiagge-Gobah exhibited favoritism and procedural misconduct during a recent ministerial vetting sessions.

Speaking on a Media General platform, Ahiafor strongly rebuked the Minority Leader’s actions, stressing that the Clerk’s impartiality was beyond reproach. He expressed disappointment over the public nature of the allegations, especially given that they were aired in front of cameras. In an attempt to defuse the situation, the Chairman of the Committee issued a public apology to the Clerk on behalf of the Minority Leader.

Ahiafor further emphasized that he could not support calls for the Clerk’s removal, reinforcing the need for integrity and respect within the parliamentary process.
