Following a rigorous debate and voting process, Parliament has formally approved the nominations of Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and ten other individuals as ministers-designate.
The newly approved ministers-designate and their respective ministries are Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister-Designate of Health; Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister-Designate of Foreign Affairs; and Issifu Seidu, Minister-Designate of Climate Change and Sustainability.
The others are Madam Charity Gardiner -Minister-Designate, Ahafo Region, Mr. Salisu Bi-Awuribe -Minister-Designate-Savannah Region, Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum Western North, Joseph Nelson -Western Region, Mr. Joseph Addae Akwaboa -Bono Region, Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi -Bono East Region, Mr. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah -Minister-Designate, Central Region, and Mr. Charles Lwanga Puozuing – Minister-Desinagate- Upper West Region.
However, the Minority vehemently opposed the approval of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for the Foreign Affairs portfolio by consensus.
Speaking on the floor, Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin cried, “Give me water. We, the minority, wash our hands off the approval of Ablakwa. They should carry the sins of Ablakwa.”
“I want the Hansard to capture this in totality that the entire 88 MPs of minority hereby reject the nominee for the Foreign Affairs portfolio” he reiterated.
