New Regional Minister pledges to promote responsible mining in Eastern Region

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey has vowed to embark on transformative activities to reset the region thereby helping to improve quality of education and health care in the region. She also pledged her commitment to help expand access to mobile telecommunications with the help of the rural telephony project.

Mrs. Akosua Awatey speaking during her maiden engagement with the staff of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, ERCC, hinted that she is looking forward to a region with expanded access of road networks to farming communities to enable easy transportation of foodstuffs to market centres. 

She reiterated her pledge to combat illegal mining thereby ensuring responsible mining to help preserve the lands, forest reserves and water bodies in the region.

Mrs. Akosua Awatey commending President John Dramani Mahama for reposing the trust in her by appointing her as the Eastern Regional Minister entreated all staff of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, ERCC, and all stakeholders to put aside politics and work together for the development of the region.

The Eastern Regional Coordinating Director, Adu Asamoah noted that the maiden engagement is to enable the Regional Minister familiarize herself with the staff of RCC.

He encouraged the staffs to collaborate effectively with the Minster to help promote development in the region.
