Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak, in a move to address pressing issues within the Ghana Premier League, have announced their collaboration on a comprehensive position paper aimed at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

This initiative emerged from a strategic meeting in Accra, where the Interim Management Committee of Asante Kotoko and select members from the Hearts of Oak Board engaged in an extensive dialogue concerning the challenges facing the league.

Central to their discussions was the urgent need to improve security measures at match venues, a concern that has been amplified by recent tragic events.

The clubs expressed their unified commitment to ensuring the safety of all football fans, particularly in light of the heartbreaking loss of Nana Pooley, a dedicated supporter of Asante Kotoko.

This incident has served as a stark reminder of the critical importance of fan safety in the realm of sports.

During the meeting, the Hearts Board extended their condolences to Asante Kotoko, emphasising their commitment to working collaboratively to ensure that such a tragedy does not recur. They pledged to support efforts aimed at enhancing security protocols and expressed a desire to engage with all stakeholders, including the GFA, law enforcement, and passionate supporters, to create a safer environment for football in Ghana.

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are advocating for the swift implementation of improved security protocols as part of their recommendations to the GFA. Their joint efforts underscore a shared goal: to ensure that football matches remain safe and enjoyable for everyone involved. The clubs are keen to collaborate with relevant authorities to facilitate these enhancements and foster a culture of safety in the sport.
