English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Newcastle United have paid moving tributes to former Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, marking the second anniversary of his untimely passing. Christian Atsu tragically lost his life during the catastrophic earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, 2023; a disaster that claimed thousands of lives and left a lasting impact on the global community.

Christian Atsu, a former Ghana international, was discovered nearly two weeks after the earthquake, trapped beneath the rubble. His untimely death shocked the football world, and following the recovery of his body, he was returned to his homeland of Ghana for a dignified burial.

Our thoughts are forever with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Christian.” This acknowledgment highlights the lasting impact Atsu had on the club and its supporters during his time there.
