All 18 clubs in the Ghana Premier League have pledged to adhere to enhanced matchday protocols following an emergency meeting at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) headquarters on Thursday, February 6, 2025. This decision comes amidst growing concerns regarding matchday security and the need for stricter regulations to ensure a safe environment for players, officials and fans.
During the meeting, club representatives reached a consensus on the necessity of enforcing club licensing regulations more rigorously. They acknowledged that the existing frameworks needed re-evaluation to address the challenges faced in previous seasons.
The clubs expressed their commitment to these new protocols, which are aimed at fortifying security measures during matches and enhancing the overall experience for spectators.
In a joint statement released by the league, it was confirmed that all Premier League clubs have agreed to implement these enhanced security protocols. This unified stance demonstrates a collective effort to prioritize safety in football, highlighting the clubs’ responsibility towards their supporters and the integrity of the sport in Ghana.
The clubs believe that these measures will help restore confidence among fans and stakeholders in the league.
The newly agreed protocols will serve as a foundation for discussions at an upcoming Executive Council meeting scheduled for February 7, 2025.
At this meeting, comprehensive guidelines will be drafted and published ahead of the Premier League season, ensuring that all clubs are well-informed and prepared to comply with the new regulations.
