The Minority Caucus in Parliament has submitted a memorandum to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, raising concerns over the continued chairmanship of the Ad-hoc Committee’s proceedings. In light of these concerns, the Caucus has decided to temporarily suspend its participation in the Committee’s work until the Speaker addresses the issues raised.

In a statement issued on Monday, February 10, 2025, the Minority Caucus emphasized that this decision should not be misconstrued as a refusal to engage with the Committee.
“This should not be misconstrued as an unwillingness on the part of the Minority to engage with the Committee. Rather, it is a necessary step to ensure that due process is followed, and the process remains fair, impartial, and credible,” the statement read.

The Ad-hoc Committee, established to investigate the chaos that occurred on January 30, 2025, has been at the center of controversy following the Minority’s objections to participate.
The Minority Caucus expressed confidence that the Speaker will handle the matter in a manner that upholds the credibility of the Committee and Parliament as a whole.
“We trust that the Speaker will address these concerns in a manner that upholds the integrity of the Committee’s work and the broader interests of Parliament. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to a resolution that ensures confidence in the Committee’s proceedings,” the statement concluded.
They reiterated their commitment to engaging in the process once their concerns have been addressed.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Bedzrah, says the committee will continue to execute its duty as permitted by the Speaker of Parliament.
