The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has congratulated Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams on his appointment as the first Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
Hon. Adams was sworn into office by President John Dramani Mahama, following his approval by Ghana’s Parliament.
During his vetting, Hon. Adams assured the Appointments Committee of Parliament of his commitment to developing sports holistically, prioritizing not just football but also other sporting disciplines.
SWAG has welcomed this promise, expressing eagerness to see him deliver on this commitment.
As Minister, Hon. Adams will face challenges such as improving sports infrastructure, enhancing athlete welfare, and promoting transparency and accountability in sports governance.
However, with his experience and passion for sports, SWAG is confident that he will make a positive impact on Ghanaian sports.
SWAG has also called on Hon. Adams to prioritize school sports, revive Inter-Schools competitions, and the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA Games). By doing so, he can help create a more diverse and vibrant sports ecosystem in Ghana.
The premier and long standing sports writers association looks forward to working closely with Hon. Adams and his team to promote the development of sports in Ghana.
