An incumbent Oti Regional Member of the Council of State, Mr. Richard Kings Atikpo has retained his position as Council of State Member for the Oti Region after a landslide victory.

He garnered 16 out of 18 total votes cast at the end of the Oti Regional Council of State election held today, February 11, 2025. His closest contender, Mr. Nicholas Fato, only managed to secure just two votes. The other five candidates, including former Deputy Oti Regional Minister Maxwell Qophy Blagodze, received zero votes.

Mr. Atikpo expressed his joy and gratitude over the victory, promising to engage with the Roads Minister to advocate for the construction of roads in the Oti Region.

This is a critical issue, as the region’s roads have been a subject of concern for residents and travellers alike.

Some of the key road projects in the region include the Eastern Corridor Road, which spans 695 km and connects several major towns, and the Nkwanta-Oti-Damanko road, which is expected to be fixed soon.
