The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed allegations that the recent revocation of last-minute public sector and civil service appointments was politically motivated against New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters.
His response comes after a directive from Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, which overturned all appointments made by the previous administration after December 7, 2024.
The decision has stirred significant debate, with critics arguing that it was influenced by political considerations.
However, speaking on Citi FM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Kwakye Ofosu maintained that the move was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and a merit-based hiring process in the public sector.
“This government is committed to generating employment for all manners of persons, and in due course vacancies will be declared and people will go through the right procedure to secure employment in the public and civil service, even including those whose appointments have now been revoked.
“Let me stress that this is not an attempt to replace NPP supporters with NDC; that is not what is happening. We need to get a stage where their right things are done and that employment into the public or civil service is done on the basis of merit to the extent that you meet the requirement and go through the proper procedures,” he stated.
