The Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research is appealing to government for financial support to enable it to conduct relevant research that will benefit the country.
Director of the Institute, Professor Abraham Annan, told GBC’s Radio Ghana that the only source of funding from government is salaries of workers and Book and Research Allowance.
Meanwhile, a survey by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research on Tuberculosis indicates that the bacteria that cause the disease is developing resistance to drugs.
Director of the Institute, Professor Abraham Annan, said prevalence of T.B in Ghana is under control and there is need for intensive surveillance mechanisms to avert any epidemic.
Professor Annan was speaking at the West African Node of Excellence for TB, AIDS and Malaria, ‘WANETAM’ retreat in Accra.
