The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has instructed the Acting Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA) to provide a detailed list of all frequency authorisations issued or renewed in the past 60 days.
This directive is part of the government’s “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) initiative, aimed at reclaiming state resources allegedly transferred to private entities without proper legal and procedural compliance.
In a statement released Wednesday, February 12, Mr. George explained the rationale behind the audit. “As part of the government’s Operation Recover All Loot agenda, the Minister considers it a mandate to ensure that all State resources within the purview of the Ministry which have been handed over to private interests in a manner inconsistent with law and laid down procedure must be recovered for the benefit of the State”.
The move is the first phase of a full audit of broadcasting frequencies to ensure proper management and compliance with legal procedures.
The government is set to review these authorizations to verify their adherence to statutory guidelines, with further updates expected in due course.
