The Kumasi Area Manager of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Adomako Mensah, has urged employers to prioritise enrolling their new employees in the SSNIT pension scheme to secure their future benefits upon retirement.

He highlighted that SSNIT has consistently paid benefits to pensioners without delays since 1992. Therefore, he encouraged all workers, whether in the public or private sector, to register for the scheme. He emphasised that registering and updating social security details is free of charge.

Speaking to Adom News during a working visit to the Apostolic Golden Jubilee School in Kumasi as part of National Chocolate Day celebrations, Mr. Mensah reassured that individuals, regardless of their profession, are eligible to register for SSNIT using their Ghana Card. He also mentioned that SSNIT contributions can be made via mobile money (MOMO) without any extra fees.

He stressed the importance of pension contributions in reducing poverty among retirees and urged all workers to enroll in the scheme.

The headteacher of the Apostolic Golden Jubilee School, Elder Akwasi Nimo, and his staff expressed excitement about celebrating Chocolate Day with SSNIT. He noted that the visit strengthened their relationship with SSNIT and increased awareness about the importance of pension contributions.

Akwasi Nimo also encouraged other headteachers to ensure the timely payment of SSNIT contributions for their employees.

SSNIT marked National Chocolate Day, observed on February 14, by showing appreciation to clients in branches across the country.
