The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has instructed its members to prepare for a nationwide strike set for Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The industrial action is in response to the continued stay of Samuel Adom Botchway as head of the Births and Deaths Registry, despite previous government assurances that he would be removed from office.

According to CLOGSAG, Mr. Botchway’s presence at a budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, confirms that he remains in his position—contrary to the government’s earlier commitments.

In a statement signed by Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Association stressed that the strike would proceed as planned unless their concerns were fully addressed.

The statement urged all members to be prepared for the industrial action, reaffirming their firm stance on the matter.

CLOGSAG has repeatedly called for Mr. Botchway’s removal, citing leadership and governance issues within the Births and Deaths Registry.
