The Ghana wheelchair Tennis Men’s Team, comprising Daniel Laryea and Bernard Yawson, led by official Kwabena Afriyie-Siaw, clinched a bronze medal after a commendable performance at the 2025 ITF BNP Paribas World Team Cup Africa Qualifiers in Rabat, Morocco.
Their journey to this achievement was marked by determination and skill, as they triumphed over Kenya with a decisive 3-0 scoreline in the final match.
The men’s wheelchair tennis event also featured notable performances from Morocco and Egypt, who clinched gold and silver, respectively. While Morocco claimed the top spot, Egypt secured the silver medal, demonstrating the competitive spirit of the participating nations.

Adding to the joyous occasion was the presence of the Ghana Ambassador to Morocco, H.E. Mrs. Charity Gbedawo, who congratulated the team on their impressive feat. Her support and words of encouragement echoed the pride the nation feels for its athletes’ accomplishments.
Fundraising efforts from benevolent individuals in the Volta Region, the GTF wheelchair tennis committee, and partnerships with Donewell Insurance played a crucial role in their success. These contributions underscored the power of community support in achieving fairytales in sport.
This bronze medal victory not only celebrates the players’ hard work but also highlights the growing influence of wheelchair tennis in Ghana. As the team looks ahead, this accomplishment serves as a motivation to strive for even greater achievements in future competitions.
