Information emanating from Gomoa Obuasi in the Central Region has its that a violent chieftaincy clash between two factions has left six people injured, including the head of the Asona Royal Family, Agya Amoh.
Insider sources say the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah, who has jurisdiction over Gomoa Obuasi, recently installed one Kwabena Atta as caretaker chief following the death of the substantive chief.
However, the Regent of the town has since refused to hand over to the caretaker chief, resulting in ongoing confrontations.
According to reports, some youth groups supporting one faction attacked their rivals during a meeting in the Gomoa Obuasi, resulting in property damage.
Nana Mbir Asomako shared his ordeal, saying that a group of town elders had gathered at the palace around 9 to 10 a.m. for a scheduled meeting. Without warning, they witnessed stones being hurled through the air from outside.
He said several roofs of the palace have been destroyed, including two vehicles.

“The police have been duly informed, but the youth claim they do not fear the police and will continue to terrorise us. We had indications that they were planning to burn the entire place down, so we decided to leave the palace,” Nana Asomako, explained.
