The 2020 National Democratic Congress, NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okere and an Aspiring District Chief Executive for Okere, Prince Henry Anim-Owiredu has refuted publication on social media that a newly posted teacher in the Okere District of the Eastern Region has committed suicide after the government announced revocation of appointments and recruitments made after the December seven elections.

Mr. Anim-Owiredu reiterated that nothing of such happened in the district and noted that the publication is fabricated and concocted by the opposition New Patriotic Party, NPP, meant to tarnish the image of the NDC government in the Okere district and the country at large.

In an interview with GBC News, Mr. Anim-Owiredu hinted that recruitments and appointments of teachers, nurses, and midwives go through a thorough process and no one can just get up one day and say he or she has recruited teachers, nurses, and midwives after losing an election.

The Aspiring District Chief Executive for Okere urged Ghanaians to verify and authenticate the source of every information they receive on social media to ensure that the information is authentic and credible before sharing.

He noted that in this modern age of social media and Artificial Intelligence, AI, anyone can create any story, video, or image just to misinform and dis-inform the public hence the need to authenticate every information they receive before believing it.

He further advised Ghanaians to verify news information they receive from credible media houses such as GBC, Joy News and TV3.
