Suspected thieves have stolen the sacred black stool from the Sokoban Krofrom Palace in Kumasi, causing tension in the community. The theft happened when the newly installed chief and other royal family members went to the Manhyia Palace to swear an oath of allegiance.
According to reports, six heavily built men, armed with machetes and guns, broke into the palace, vandalized the metal gate, and took away the black stool and other valuables.
Some elderly family members who tried to stop them were attacked, while women in the palace were left in distress.

The black stool is an important symbol of power and tradition in Akan culture. It represents leadership, authority, and the spiritual heritage of the royal family.
A royal family member, Kwadwo Antwi, spoke about the incident on Akoma 87.9 FM, saying the attack has left the community in fear. He called on security agencies to take swift action.
The police have visited the palace and launched an investigation. Authorities are urging calm as efforts continue to recover the stolen black stool and bring the perpetrators to justice.
