The Minister of the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing border security and combating the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

As part of his working tour, Hon. Muntaka visited the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) headquarters, where he praised the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, and his team for their dedication to securing the country’s borders.

He also acknowledged the logistical challenges facing the Service and assured them of the government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to strengthen their operations.

At the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, the minister stressed the need for collaboration and coordination among stakeholders to tackle the illegal circulation of small arms.

He highlighted the commission’s crucial role in promoting peace and security, not only in Ghana but across the West African sub-region.

Hon. Muntaka’s visit underscores the government’s focus on strengthening national security and ensuring that key institutions receive the support needed to fulfill their mandates effectively.
