The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the government is taking steps to make passport processing faster and easier for Hajj pilgrims.
Speaking at the Hajj Village on Tuesday, March 4, Mr. Ablakwa said this is the first time such an initiative has been introduced in Ghana. He explained that the move is part of the government’s plan to improve services for all citizens.
He also mentioned that President John Mahama fully supports this initiative, showing the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian can access essential services without difficulty.
“For the first time in our nation’s history, the government has taken deliberate steps to streamline and expedite passport processing specifically for Hajj pilgrims,” Mr. Ablakwa said.

Hajj is an important religious journey for Muslims, and Mr. Ablakwa described it as a deeply spiritual experience that every capable Muslim is encouraged to undertake at least once in their lifetime. He said the government understands the importance of making this journey smooth and stress-free for Ghanaian Muslims.
The new passport processing system is expected to remove delays and make it easier for pilgrims to travel. Many members of the Muslim community have welcomed the initiative, calling it a positive step towards better public services.
Mr. Ablakwa assured Ghanaians that the government will continue working to improve efficiency in various sectors to ensure easy access to essential services.
