FIFA has announced a staggering $1 billion prize fund for the 2025 Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States between June 14 and July 13. The record-breaking prize fund is part of FIFA’s efforts to elevate the tournament’s status and attract top clubs from around the world. While the exact distribution of the prize money has not been confirmed, FIFA has assured that a “solidarity” pot will be introduced to benefit clubs outside the competition.

FIFA’s budget anticipates a revenue of $2 billion from the competition, with President Gianni Infantino stating that “all revenue generated by the tournament will be distributed to the participating clubs and via club solidarity across the world as FIFA will not keep a single dollar.” The prize fund is a significant increase from previous tournaments, with the 2022 Men’s World Cup and 2023 Women’s World Cup offering $440 million and $110 million, respectively.

The European Clubs’ Association (ECA), which represents the interests of Europe’s leading clubs, is expected to push for a significant share of the prize money, given the prominent role of European clubs in driving interest in the tournament. However, clubs from other continents are also likely to argue for their fair share, setting the stage for a complex negotiation process.

FIFA’s announcement comes on the heels of a $1 billion broadcast deal with DAZN, which will show all 63 games from the 2025 tournament on its platform. Additionally, TNT Sports has secured the rights to broadcast 24 matches, including the final, on its cable networks. The inaugural Club World Cup is expected to be a major spectacle, with the record-breaking prize fund adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the tournament.

The 2025 Club World Cup will feature 32 teams from around the world, competing in a revamped format designed to promote more competitive and exciting matches. With the record-breaking prize fund and high-profile broadcast deals in place, the stage is set for a thrilling tournament that will captivate football fans worldwide.
