Government has announced a total amount of GH¢683 million allocated for the payment of both teacher and nursing trainee allowances.

Presenting the 2025 Budget Statement to parliament, Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson stated that an amount of GH¢203 million and GH¢480 million have been allocated to teacher trainee and nursing trainee allowances, respectively.

He stressed the importance of these allowances in supporting students in professional training programs.

“The government remains committed to sustaining the teacher and nursing trainee allowances to support students in their professional training,” Dr. Forson stated in his address to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11.

The allowances, introduced to ease financial burdens and boost enrolment in critical sectors like health and education, have faced delays in recent years, prompting concerns among trainees.

Dr. Forson assured lawmakers that measures are being implemented to prevent such delays. “The budget provides for the continued payment of allowances, and the government will ensure that trainees receive their entitlements on time,” he added.
