Ghanaian traders have expressed deep concerns over price volatility and exchange rate fluctuations, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson has said.
Speaking in Parliament during the presentation of the 2025 Budget and Economic Policy, Dr. Forson noted that consultations with traders across major markets, including Makola Market, revealed that price instability and currency depreciation remain their biggest challenges.
He explained that the engagement was aimed at understanding traders’ concerns, managing expectations, and incorporating their input into the government’s economic strategy.
‘’The extensive consultations revealed the overriding concern among Ghanaian traders and the business community remains price and exchange rate instability,’’ he said.
Beyond the traders’ concerns, the Finance Minister also said government will urgently address the salary arrears of 321 pharmacists who have gone unpaid since their employment in June 2023.S
