A new association, Professional Women in Fashion Education and Training, has launched in Kumasi to empower young women pursuing careers in fashion.
The organization provides mentorship, networking opportunities, and industry collaborations to help members overcome obstacles, develop skills, and make a lasting impact.

Ghana’s fashion design industry poses significant challenges for women, including limited funding, gender biases, intense competition, and family-career balance. To overcome these barriers, the Professional Women in Fashion Education and Training Association (PROWIFETA) was launched, providing a platform for women to amplify their voices, develop talents, and build connections.
At the launch, Director Phyllis Mensah urged women to seize growth and innovation opportunities in the industry.

PROWIFETA President, Madam Abena Okyerewa Siaw, called on participants to foster a collaborative environment where ideas flourish, challenges become opportunities, and women drive meaningful impact in the fashion sector.
The launch was themed “Empowering Women through Sustainable Fashion Design and Training.”
