Mahama holds bilateral talks with Sierra Leone’s President Bio

President John Dramani Mahama is in Sierra Leone for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and advancing key areas of collaboration including trade, economic development, and regional cooperation.

The Ghanaian President was met on arrival by his Sierra Leonean Counterpart, Julius Maada Bio.

A Special Aide to President Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, confirmed the visit in a Facebook post on March 18, 2025. She noted that the two leaders will engage in discussions focused on mutual interests, including economic partnerships, social infrastructure, and regional cooperation.

Ghana and Sierra Leone share a longstanding relationship, characterized by mutual support during times of crisis and collaborative efforts toward development.

In January 2025, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone attended President Mahama’s inauguration in Accra, further solidifying the strong bond between the two nations.

President Mahama’s visit is set to strengthen this relationship, fostering economic growth and regional stability.

As key members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), both countries’ cooperation is vital to advancing peace and development across West Africa.
