The Ghana Lacrosse Association, GLA has partnered the American International School, AIS to mark the School’s maiden Family and Friends Day. The event which came off at the AIS Sports Complex at the weekend brought together parents, teachers, students and friends to socialise and also compete in various sporting disciplines including basketball, football, tennis and tug-of-war. Also players of Ghana’s male and female national Lacrosse teams were present to showcase their skills and talents to the students and other participants.
The exhibition which was organised by the GLA in collaboration with the AIS was to whip up interest in the students and also to popularise Lacrosse in the school.
The Head Principal of AIS, Nicola Horne expressed her excitement about the partnership with the Association. ” We are really excited to incorporate Lacrosse into our American Physical Education curriculum.
We are also very excited to see the Ghana Lacrosse team here for demonstration because we want to expose our students to the sport” she said.

President of the Ghana Lacrosse Association, Evans Agyei Ntiamoah also revealed plans to collaborate with the School to develop the sport. “We are here to maximise the promotion and visibility of Lacrosse together with AIS-Ghana as an academic institution and I believe both of us will benefit from this partnership. This is the beginning of something beautiful and a clear demonstration of American culture.
There is a beautiful partnership ahead this summer where we are looking to even introduce Lacrosse to students of the American International School”, he emphasized.
Mr. Ntiamoah urged other schools to emulate the American International School to help unearth talents to enhance the development of the sport. He also urged corporate bodies to partner the GLA to facilitate the speedy development of Lacrosse in Ghana. “We cannot do it alone so we need the support of corporate bodies. We are inviting Corporate Ghana to come on board with financial aids and other partnerships”, he added.
